It was the swing heard ‘round the world. Or the Internet, at least. Blac Chyna, a Kardashian-adjacent celebrity, swung a stroller (with no child inside it) at a Six Flags theme park after a fight had erupted.
In the aftermath of a video of the stroller swing making the rounds around the Internet, Blac Chyna lost an endorsement deal with the stroller company Momiie. Prior to the ruckus, there had been rumours that she was going to design a line of strollers for the brand. Brands entering into sponsorship or endorsement deals with athletes or celebrities should always be sure to have a clause in their contract that allows them to end the association is there is behavious that could damage the public image of the company.
As a coda to this story, the stroller that Blac Chyna swung was not in fact a Momiie brand stroller, although several news stories erroneously reported that it was, but was instead from the Step 2 brand. A representative for Step 2 stated that, although it did not agree with the behaviour displayed at the theme park, the video of the fight did demonstrate how durable their products were. As a final note, brands should consider whether they want an individual who they are paying to wear or use their products to be allowed to use a rival’s products.
